Anxiety Therapy in Birmingham, AL

Alexander & Associates Counseling Services takes a holistic approach when it comes to helping our clients. We don’t just treat symptoms—we consider your story, routines, relationships, responsibilities, strengths, and values. Anxiety is exhausting, but it’s also workable. With the right plan, you can sleep better, think more clearly, and move through your day with confidence.

What anxiety can look like

Racing thoughts, “what-if” spirals, panic, stomach tightness, irritability, social avoidance, and perfectionism are common. Anxiety often shows up during transitions—new schools, promotions, parenting changes, health concerns, or caregiving roles.

How we help

We blend evidence-based tools (CBT/skills training, exposure-informed strategies, mindfulness, and—when relevant—EMDR for trauma-linked anxiety) with practical supports you can use immediately. Expect short, clear exercises and real-life plans for situations you’ve been avoiding.

What to expect

Session one is about you—what’s hard, what matters, and where you want relief first. Together we set 1–3 specific goals (e.g., better sleep, returning to activities, panic reduction). We’ll monitor progress and adjust as life changes.

In-person or telehealth—your choice

See us in Birmingham (Mountain Brook area) or via secure telehealth anywhere in Alabama. Many clients choose a blend for convenience.

When anxiety overlaps with trauma or OCD

We’ll screen for trauma and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. If helpful, we can coordinate with Woody for EMDR (trauma-linked anxiety) or ERP-style strategies for OCD—always at your pace.
